The Stryker ATGM is a modern tank destroyer of US origin. This is the anti-tank missile variant of the Stryker series of wheeled combat vehicles. In US military service it is known as the M1134.
The Stryker ATGM is based on the universal Stryker chassis and features a similar layout. The crew is located at the front, the engine compartment is in the middle and the missile launcher is located at the rear. The crew consists of four people.
The main armament of the Stryker ATGM is the TOW-2 anti-tank missile. The launcher features high end optics and has two missiles ready to launch. A single missile is launched and guided onto a target at a time. The TOW-2 missile is wire guided and has a maximum range of 4 km.
The eight wheel chassis allows for good mobility on roads. On roads the maximum speed is up to 100 km/h and the range is 500 km. The Caterpillar turbo-charged diesel engine provides up to 350 hp. The 8x8 drive chassis provides a reasonable cross country mobility in all but the most difficult terrain.
The armor protects the crew from small arms fire and shell splinters. Over the frontal arc the armor resists fire from heavy machine guns with a caliber of up to 14.5mm. The missiles are launched from under armor protection. Smoke grenade launchers are fitted for self-defense.
The Stryker ATGM is in service with the US army. Each Stryker brigade combat team has nine ATGM vehicles. These are organized in platoons of three vehicles.
